Mother's Day Gift Guide

mother's day gift guide

Hi Friends! I can’t believe it’s almost Mother’s Day. I feel like I blinked, and we went from the winter that won’t end to long warm days that call for porch sittin’ and iced tea. You won’t hear this gal complain! But I do need to get in gear and start thinking about all things spring - décor refresh, getting the backyard ready for BBQs and most importantly, Mother’s Day gifts!

This will be my second Mother’s Day as a mama. I remember the first time I felt like a mom. It wasn’t when I gave birth, or when I was struggling to learn to nurse. It was when I was pushing her stroller for the first time around our farm and it didn’t feel quite natural then. Now, the stroller is like my third appendage.

My daughter is amazing – the best thing to ever happen to me. She’s a mover and a shaker. She’s going to move mountains and do great things, but this girl DOES NOT STOP. This little sweet 22-month-old girl of mine has me running ragged these days (teething doesn’t help either).

So, this Mother’s Day is all about self-care and a little self-indulgence. I spent the first 18 months of E’s life totally immersed into being her mom, working my full-time job and volunteering. I remember looking in the mirror and not recognizing the person (or the body) I was seeing. I’m sure most moms feel this way too.

In January I promised myself to be the best version of me that I could be for my daughter. And in this season of my life, it means taking a step back, slowing down and taking better care of myself. Because I can’t be the best version of myself for my family without taking a little time for me. Sometimes I only get that time when I wake up extra early in the morning before E does, or I squeeze it in when she’s napping, but it’s crucial to fill you up– because you can’t pour from an empty cup!

I have rounded up perfect Mother's Day gifts that help to recharge and that any mama would enjoy. Because who doesn’t need a little pampering?!

Hi! I'm Shannon and I live on a farm in Northern California where we enjoy a hard day’s work, home cooked meals and preserving the past. Oh yeah, we’re building a new (old) Farmhouse too! I created this blog as a way to journal our Farmhouse build and collect our family-favorite recipes.
