Summer Patio Essentials

Summer is right around the corner and I can’t wait for us to be living outside again. We’ve been busy spring cleaning and I’m hoping by fall to be finished! With a toddler, farm, volunteer commitments and a day time job, everything takes FOREVER to get done. My husband and I started spring cleaning outside first so we can enjoy the beautiful weather, relax (have an adult beverage or two) and let E soak in summertime sweetness by running around and playing outside.

Since we moved to our temporary home, we haven’t paid much attention to the outside. We remodeled the kitchen, painted and updated floors but left the outside pretty much untouched. I was 6 months pregnant when we moved, and more important things (like our farm and work) had our attention at the time. So this year, it’s time to tackle the outside so we can enjoy it.

I am also trying to slow the hustle, live in the moment and be more intentional about our time; and the leisurely pace of summer makes it easy for us to do just that. E turns two in June and I can’t believe how fast the time goes. I want to make sure I soak in the sweetness of her two-year-old self and what better way to do that than by spending time outside in the summer!

Our patio is pretty much a blank slate, so I’m working on giving it a little refresh with items that we can move with us when we finish our house build. I’ve gathered patio essential items below that would help anyone linger longer outside. Cheers to savoring summer's sweetness!

Hi! I'm Shannon and I live on a farm in Northern California where we enjoy a hard day’s work, home cooked meals and preserving the past. Oh yeah, we’re building a new (old) Farmhouse too! I created this blog as a way to journal our Farmhouse build and collect our family-favorite recipes.
