Nutella Brownies that are fudgy, chewy and chocolatey with just a hint of hazelnut goodness in every bite. These are sure to become your favorite sweet decadent treat!

Brownies and Nutella are my love language. Most days you’ll find me sneaking spoonfuls of Nutella in between chasing children around the house. And brownies, well, do I need to explain the love for this fudgy, chocolatey, decadent baked good? I didn’t think so. These homemade easy Nutella brownies are perfect for when you want to treat yourself, having people over or for any time really. Because you’ll never find me turning down brownies, ever.

These chewy brownies are fudgy and moist, with a little crisp to the edge – the best of both worlds. They come together easy and will not disappoint. Make sure to keep a close eye on the brownies around the 20-minute mark as not to overcook them. If the toothpick comes out with only a couple moist crumbs, the brownies are done. The edges should be set, and the center should still look slightly moist, but not uncooked. For me, these brownies typically take 25 minutes to bake in my oven.

Serving Suggestions

Serve these incredible brownies with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra special treat, or enjoy them with a cup of coffee or milk. They're also great for picnics or as a decadent snack.

Storage

  • Fresh: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • Frozen: Wrap individually in plastic wrap, then place in a zip-lock bag. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature.

FAQs

What makes brownies chewy?

Chewiness in brownies comes from the fat content, usually butter or, in this case, Nutella.

Why are my brownies fluffy, not chewy?

Fluffy brownies usually have too much air incorporated into the batter, often from overmixing. For chewy Nutella brownies, mix the batter until just combined.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter
  • one 4-ounce semi-sweet chocolate bar coarsely chopped

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a double boiler over low heat, carefully melt the butter and chopped chocolate until completely smooth. Alternatively, you can use a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and chopped chocolate. Melt in 30 second increments, stirring until smooth, being careful not to burn the chocolate.
  • In a mixer with the paddle attachment, combine the chocolate / butter mixture with the Nutella and brown sugar until well combined.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, stopping to scrape down the bowl occasionally to make sure the ingredients are combined evenly.
  • Add in the vanilla extract.
  • Stir in the flour, kosher salt and chocolate chips until just combined.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out mostly clean. If the toothpick comes out with only a couple moist crumbs, the brownies are done. The edges should be set, and the center should still look slightly moist, but not uncooked. Keep a close eye on them as to not overcook.
  • Cool on a wire rack before serving. Store tightly covered for 3-5 days.
