Why You'll Love this Recipe

  • Effortless Entertaining: Prep the margarita mixture ahead of time, then simply blend and serve when your guests arrive. More time for mingling, less time mixing drinks!
  • Perfect for a Crowd: This recipe scales easily. Just multiply the ingredients based on the number of thirsty friends you're expecting.
  • Frozen Fun: Blended margaritas boast a delightful slushy texture that's perfect for poolside chilling or beating the summer heat.
  • Always Ready: Having a pre-made margarita in the freezer means you're never more than minutes away from a refreshing escape.

Ingredients

  • Strawberry Rhubarb Simple Syrup
  • tequila (I like Jose Cuervo Gold)
  • fresh limes (for juice and wedges)
  • triple sec or orange liqueur
  • orange juice
  • strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • ice
  • Margarita salt (or kosher salt) for lining the glass rims (optional)

How to Make

  1. Blend it Up: Combine the simple syrup, tequila, lime juice, triple sec, orange juice, strawberries and ice in a blender.
  2. Freeze: Pour the mixture into margarita glass to enjoy now or into a mason jar or freezer-safe container to enjoy later.
  3. Enjoy: Unscrew the lid of the mason jar, dip rim of the glass into coarse salt and thaw the margarita slightly at room temperature before serving for that perfect slushy consistency.

Tips

  • These margaritas are so easy to make. Simply combine the ingredients into a blender, blend, pour into jars, screw on lids, freeze and enjoy!
  • If drinking margaritas right away, rub a cut lime around the rim of the jars and dip rims in margarita salt before pouring the margaritas into the jar. Garnish with a sliced lime.
  • If making ahead, pour blended margaritas into half-pint jars. Make sure to leave some space for the margarita to expand when freezing. Screw on lids and freeze. To serve, remove from freezer and immediately rub jar rim with a sliced lime and dip in margarita salt while the margarita is still frozen solid so it won’t spill out of the jar. Leave jars out for a few minutes to thaw and use a fork to break up any frozen chunks and stir.

Storage Instructions

  • Frozen Mixture: Can be frozen for up to 3 months. Just stir well after thawing to refresh the consistency.

FAQs

How do I keep margaritas frozen at a party?

Use an insulated container to keep them cold without a freezer.

Can I freeze margarita mix with tequila?

Absolutely! Alcohol lowers the freezing point, ensuring a slushy, enjoyable texture.
